About Xtrakt
YouTube is the largest library ever assembled, and it has no index inside its books. Xtrakt exists to fix that: it makes the spoken word of any video searchable, navigable and yours to keep.
It is built as a Manifest V3 Chrome extension with no backend at all — the transcript YouTube already sends to your browser is captured, indexed and rendered locally. That constraint is the feature: it is why Xtrakt is fast, private and free.
The project is open source under the MIT license. Issues, pull requests and translations are welcome.
